We spent last week in Wales with my cousins Mark and Nic. It was lovely to catch up with them again. By chance my other cousin Julie and her daughter Ffion were both over from the Falklands as well, as they were last time we were here. We spent a lot of time eating, talking and enjoying each other's company.
Shannae and I were on our own during the day a couple of times while Mark and Nic were at work. This gave us the opportunity to get into Cardiff and have an explore, something we didn't get chance to do on our last visit. We spent most of our time just wandering around, shopping and eating.
On Tuesday Julie took us out to Merthyr (AKA Merffa). To get an idea of what Merthyr is like, see Radio Merffa. I've haven't seen that many crutches/canes, mobility scooters and pregnant teenagers in one place since the last time I was in Collie.
Merthyr is situated in the Welsh valleys, so on the drive in we got to see some of the most beautiful landscape that I've ever seen.
Mark had Thursday off so he took us to Roath Park. We hired a row boat and went for a paddle, walked around the lake and fed the ducks, swans, geese, coots and pigeons. It was beautiful.
After that we picked up Nic from work and went for a drive up to Caerleon to see the Roman ruins up there.
