Firstly there was getting there. My first thoughts were to take the train or the ferry, pretty orthodox. But while I was researching on Google maps the previous evening I came across a little line across the river marked 'Greenwich Foot Tunnel', and for me that was that.
Greenwich foot tunnel is awesome. Its over 100 years old, 370 metres long and 15 metres below the Thames. Essentially it's just a long concrete tube lined with non-offensive white tiles, but it has a very turn-of-the-century clinical vibe to it that made me feel like I was in a mental hospital from a B-grade horror film. The noise was just incredible. At the southern end was an old bloke belting out songs on a beat up old steel string that mixed with the kids laughing and screaming and people talking and filled the entire tunnel with sound.
