I've often said that Shannae is the most exceptional person that I know. And she is. Her talents are as diverse as they are impressive. They range from being an amazing dancer to being a wonderful writer (see Shannaesmiles) to having an unparalleled affinity for eating.
They do not, however, include navigation.
I've constantly got The Clash in my head because, for Shannae, getting lost in the supermarket is a regular occurrence. I'm pretty sure she got lost in a phone box once, I guess the exit wasn't clearly marked.
It's for this reason that I was thoroughly impressed when Shannae took the reigns and planned an entire day out - directions and all - for the two of us last week.
So we got on with what is becoming the usual drill; get up early, have some brekkie, walk to the train station and spend what seems like forever pressed up against the bodies of strangers.
Our first stop was the Science Museum. It is awesome. Like the other museums in London, entry is free. The highlights for me included Old Bess, the oldest surviving steam engine; a genuine Supermarine Spitfire hanging next to a genuine Hawker Hurricane; and a massive space exhibit with a sense of humour, including a Flying Saucer hidden in the back of the satellites diorama, and a factual write up on the USS Enterprise (the model was NCC-1701-A for the geeks).

Part way through our visit Shannae ushered me to the rear of the museum for some unknown purpose. Turns out she'd bought tickets to the IMAX theatre that's inside the museum. So we put on the ridiculously oversized glasses and watched some extraordinary footage of oceanic life (Youtube 'Garden Eels').
After leaving the film and losing a few more hours in the History of the Airplane exhibit, we eventually gave in to the throng of school-aged children and their ill-informed parents who relentlessly perpetuated misinformation and got out of there.
From the Science Museum we headed for the open spaces and fresh air of Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens. Like other Royal Parks, Hyde Park is beautiful. Being quite late in the afternoon we really only walked through the park and out the other side, stopping for a coffee in a little cafe by the Serpentine. On the way through we did see the Albert Memorial; I met a lovely homeless man taking a bath in the public toilet; we stopped and had a look at the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial; and we crossed the beautiful Serpentine Bridge.
